Market Recap For October 26th, 2021

Markets pushed higher right out of the gate yesterday, but as the day progressed significant chunks of gains were lost.

Stocks are definitely due for a pullback, and yesterday’s reversal lower has all the hallmarks of the beginning of one.

Yesterday’s Sector Performance

Energy stocks led the move yesterday.

Communication Services and Industrials failed to stay in the green.

Five-Day Sector Performance

Real Estate is still leading the past week.

Communication Services are still the only sector in the red.

ETF Trade Watch

Communication Services Select Sector SPDR (XLC)

Consumer Discretionary Select Sector SPDR (XLY)

The market rally has been persistent, so it certainly cannot be counted out to continue. However, yesterday looked like exhaustion.

Not only did the market look weak, but the XLY looked glaringly bad. So, if markets do pull back, both it and the XLC could lead the way lower.
